Watan Barbershop ("we", "the shop") is a barbershop at 3029 Kingsway, Vancouver BC. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you book with us or use this website, why we collect it, and what rights you have. It follows the principles of Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

What we collect

Booking details - your name, phone number and email address, the service, barber, date and time you book, and anything you write in the booking notes. Phone is required so the shop can reach you about your appointment.
Booking confirmations - our system keeps a record of your bookings, any discount or coupon applied, and your cancellation or rescheduling history.
Technical details - short-lived security cookies (a session cookie and a request-verification token) and the network address of your visit, used only to keep the booking form working and to block abuse.
In person - the same booking details when you book or pay at the shop.

Children's haircuts are booked by a parent or guardian, who provides the contact details.

Why we collect it

To hold your chair and confirm, remind you of, or manage your appointment.
To contact you if something changes (running late, shop closure).
To prevent misuse of the booking system.

Booking with us is your consent for these purposes. We never sell personal information, and we send booking-related mail only - no marketing lists, no newsletters.

Who else sees it

Our hosting provider (Hostinger) - the website, the booking system and the shop mailbox run on their servers.
Google - fonts and the embedded map load from Google when you open the page; Instagram and TikTok only see you if you follow those links.
Your barber - sees the booking details needed for your visit.

We disclose information to authorities only when the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Booking records are kept as business records. Security cookies expire automatically. Ask us any time to correct or delete your information and we will do it unless the law says we must keep it.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to fix it, or ask us to delete it. Contact the shop in person or by email and we will respond. If you feel we mishandled your information, tell us first - you can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the BC Information and Privacy Commissioner.
